Grateful Dead – Wake Of The Flood (Picture Disc LP Vinyl)
Wake Of The Flood arrived in October 1973 on the band's own Grateful Dead Records imprint, a deliberate step toward artistic and commercial independence that put the Dead in direct control of their music. The Keith Godchaux era brought a jazz-informed elegance to the songwriting, and Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter were operating at a peak lyrical chemistry that runs all the way through "Stella Blue" and "Eyes of the World."
A picture disc pressing of the 50th Anniversary Remaster of Wake of the Flood — the debut album from the band's own Grateful Dead Records label. Remastered by David Glasser with Plangent Processes tape restoration and speed correction, and produced for release by David Lemieux.
Released in 1973, Wake of the Flood introduced a pivotal new lineup following the passing of founding member Ron "Pigpen" McKernan and the temporary exit of drummer Mickey Hart. Newest members Keith and Donna Godchaux step into the fold on keys and vocals, and the result is one of the most musically rich albums in the Dead's catalog — featuring "Eyes of the World," "Stella Blue," "Here Comes Sunshine," and "Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo."
